Nattalie Dawkins' family thanks Jamaicans for support
The family of Nattalie Dawkins, the Clarendon teacher last seen alive on March 30, has released a statement thanking Jamaicans for their support during their intense search for her.
This comes after the police found a body, believed to be hers, in a shallow grave in Sandy Bay in the parish.
The family has expressed gratitude for what they have described as the outpouring of support received during "this most awful period."
In the statment the family shared that the loss of Dawkins – especially under these circumstances – has been devastating.
"As a family we are relying on our faith to help us come to grips with this unspeakable tragedy. Our hope for the future and reliance on our Heavenly Father will help us to “keep conquering the evil with the good.” (Romans 12:21) Through this tragedy, we have experienced a lot of “good” from many in our community that has helped us cope along the way," the statement said.
"We want to publicly thank all who have reached out to us with their calls of encouragement, prayers and other expressions of comfort and solidarity with us," the statement continued.
The family says it especially wants to thank the men and women of the Jamaica Constabulary who worked tirelessly to find Nattalie and are still working to apprehend all involved in her death.
The family also praised the support given by the JTA, led by its president Mr. Gabriel, as outstanding, noting that they are forever grateful for it.
While they will choose to grive privately, the family thanked the media for assisting in publicising the search efforts.
