Businessman charged with murder after shooting death of son

A St Andrew businessman who told police that he acted in self-defence when he shot and killed his son, has been charged with murder.

Delton Knight, 64, was charged after being questioned by police in the presence of his attorney.

Reports from the police are that about 9:45 a.m., on Monday April 12, an argument developed between Knight, who is a licensed firearm holder, and his 38-year-old son, Ruel, at their business place on Gordon Town Road.

Knight brandished a firearm and fired shots hitting Ruel in the chest.

He then fled the scene.

Ruel was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Delton Knight's court date is being finalised.
