As the number of gun murders within St James continues to rise, detectives attached to the Freeport Police Station were summoned to yet another scene on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as Marvin Allen, 37, a tiler, from Cart Road, Tower Hill. He was murdered while dumping garbage in his community.

Reports by the police are that about 6 p.m., Allen left his home with a garbage container, and was heading towards a bin along the roadway when a black Toyota Voxy bus drove up.

One man alighted from the bus and opened fire, hitting Allen multiple times. The gunman jumped back into the vehicle that sped away. The police were summoned and upon arrival, Allen was discovered lying along the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

One police officer told THE WEEKEND STAR that the police are hot on the trail of one man who is believed to have been involved in the murder.

"Although no one has been arrested so far, we believe that we will make an early breakthrough," the cop said. Up to Thursday, Allen was the 56th murder victim in St James since the start of the year. This is 25 more murders than the corresponding period last year.
