It has been almost two weeks since Anthony Watt, a 54-year-old goat farmer, was shot and killed on his property in McVickers Avenue in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday, his son Tony Watt said he is still in shock. Tony said his father lived in the US for more than two decades and returned to the island a few years ago and ventured into farming, which was a family trade.

"At the time of his death my father had about 200 goats. He never reported that anyone had ever stolen any of them but he always said that if this should happen, he would not go down without a fight. He was a very kind person and there was nothing too good for him to give away. He was very kind-hearted so I don't know why anyone would want to hurt him " he said.

Returning to live here

According to police reports, about 3 p.m. on May 16, Watt was shot by gunmen on his premises. He was pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital. Tony, who currently resides in the US, said his father's murder has changed his entire outlook on Jamaica, especially about returning to live here.

"The feeling and zest that I used to have when I was going home is no longer there. Other than my son who is there, is like I don't have any drive because I really don't know where my dad's death is coming from," he said. No one has been arrested for the murder. But Tony is keeping his fingers crossed that his father's killers will be brought to justice.

"We were very close and we were building a house together. The same week he died was the week we had begun roofing it. It is really hard," he said.
