UPDATED: Woman says she ‘married’ Kartel spiritually
Although they have not met in person, a 52-year-old woman, who was born in Germany and now lives in the United States of America, says she is the ‘wife’ of incarcerated deejay Vybz Kartel.
Speaking with THE STAR yesterday via video call, Jana Healy, who is also known by her Muslim name Fatimah Mohammad, said the two tied the knot ‘spiritually and symbolically’ on September 3.
Healy, who currently resides in the US, explained that she first heard Kartel’s music on the radio while she was on her St Ann farm in 2016.
“I heard that he was in prison and he was still making music and thought that was great. I returned to the US. I went on social media and I saw the name ‘Vybz Kartel’ and I clicked on it and wondered if he was going to respond to friendship and he accepted right away,” she said.
She said the two then struck up a conversation and the rest was history. She showed photographs of their ‘wedding’ rings, WhatsApp conversations and Photoshopped pictures of them together.
“We have so much in common because I am a mother of 13, so between the two of us, we have 20 kids. We were always joking about it. We have had similar experiences in life so we became close,” she said. “We would have our little online fights, too, like old married couple.”
Last October, Healy said Kartel asked her to purchase a pair of wedding rings as he was unable to do so from prison. She said she had made the purchase along with other items, but they got lost in transit.
“I sent another ring in August with the names ‘Addi’ and ‘Jana’ and he got them and we just decided to get married spiritually shortly after he received it. It’s a really big love story,” she said. Healy added that she is unbothered that persons may say she is either lying or is a delusional fan.
