15 COVID deaths reported in Manchester, 205 new cases recorded

Jamaica on Thursday recorded 205 new COVID-19 cases from 1,347 samples tested, increasing total confirmed cases to 85,680 with 29,168 being active.

The country's positivity rate is currently 17.7%.

Of the new cases, 118 are women and 87 are men with ages ranging from six months to 94 years.

Meanwhile, 16 more Jamaicans have died as a result of COVID-19, pushing the death tally to 1,980. 

Of the 16 fatalities which occurred between August 31 - October 6, 15 were in the parish of Manchester, six of which were previously under investigation, and one reported in St Catherine, that of an 87-year-old woman.

Those previously under investigation include: four men aged 89, 84, 72 and 68, and two women aged 83 and 34. 

The other deceased include: five women aged 96, 82, 78, 64 and 62, and four men aged 77, 73, 40 and 31. 

In the meantime, there were 158 more recoveries, bringing that total to 53,948.

Some 462 persons are in hospital with 119 being moderately ill, 59 severley ill and 33 critically ill.
