Omicron variant found in Jamaica

Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton has confirmed that a traveller who visited Jamaica for a short period has tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

The visitor stayed at a resort and has since returned home. 

The minister made the disclosure at a press conference this morning.

Tufton said it is reasonable to assume that the strain is in Jamaica.
