Banking information belonging to persons who are not residents of Jamaica were reportedly found in the home of a Corporate Area man.

Akeem Daley, 26, is charged with possession of identity information. He has not yet entered a plea. He was remanded in custody yesterday when he made his first appearance in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

It is alleged that the police, acting on intelligence, went to the premises occupied by Daley with a search warrant. Inside a bedroom, and in Daley's presence and view, a composition notebook containing the social security numbers, names, telephone numbers, credit card numbers and addresses of persons living overseas was found. A cellular phone was also searched and was found to contain information for persons living overseas.

When cautioned, Daley admitted that the notebook belonged to him. The court heard that a handwriting specimen was conducted but the results are outstanding. Having heard the allegations, Senior Parish Judge Lori-Ann Cole-Montague said she wished to see Daley's criminal records before a bail application is heard.

A fingerprint order was made and Daley is expected to return to court on March 18. It is anticipated that a bail application would be heard then. - T.T.
