Police continue gun, ammunition clean up

The Joint Anti-Gang Task Force (JAGTF) continues its gangs, guns, and gangster’s initiative with two separate operations that lead to the seizures of an illegal firearm, and caches of ammunition.

In the first operation, the police say one 9 mm Bryco pistol along with a magazine of three 9 mm rounds were recovered during a snap raid in Independence City, Portmore in St Catherine.

One man has been arrested and charged in relation to the seizure. 

During the second operation, the security forces seized 55 5.56 mm rounds, 18 9mm rounds, and two .40 mm rounds beneath makeshift beds in huts on a hillside in Whithorn, Westmoreland.

No arrests have been made in relation to that operation.
