Mother didn't know she was pregnant until she gave birth

Nicola Thomas, 36, said she experienced a small amount of discomfort prior to giving birth, but claimed to have known nothing about the pregnancy until she "felt the [baby's] head" last Tuesday night.

She told WalesOnline: "I've always said when I've seen stories myself and people are like 'we didn't know we were pregnant' - how can you not tell? I woke up at three o'clock and I just felt like I needed to go to the toilet. I just put my hands down there and felt the baby's head."

Nicola then had to ask 14-year-old daughter, Ellis, to deliver the surprise baby.

Nicola said: "[Ellis] delivered the baby, checked the cord wasn't wrapped around her neck. I'm hoping she'll be a midwife now when she's older! It's just nuts it is!"

Man rescues lion from war-torn Ukraine

A British man went above and beyond risking his own life to save a lion and wolf from a Ukrainian zoo before driving them in his van to Romania.

Tim Locks, alongside his two friends, spent four days travelling to war-ridden Ukraine to rescue the lives of a lion and a wolf that were left for dead in a zoo.

He embarked on the 1,200-mile mission from Lviv to Zaporizhzhia Oblast after overhearing about their predicament from hotel staff.

Tim, who was already in Ukraine to distribute essentials to victims of war, chronicled his rescue operation whilst updating his followers along the way.

It took three hours for a crane to extract the lion, Simba, and wolf, Akela, from their cages and place them in the back of a van.

Upon arriving in Romania, guards were in disbelief at the declaration of their cargo.

He told Metro:"One guard told us there was a war on and it was no time to joke around,

"I took him to the side of the van, opened the door, and showed him this proper big lion, like Aslan out Narnia.

"We kept reminding each other that we'd got a lion and a wolf in the back of the van as we were driving and looking back to see there they were, just over our shoulders."

Toy croc startles residents

A crocodile reported on the loose turned out to be fake.

A jogger reported seeing a crocodile on the loose near Queenborough, on the Isle of Sheppey off the coast of Kent, England, and while police later said they were "snappy" at getting to the scene, the crocodile turned out to be a toy.

Alongside a picture of the toy -- which looked to be about 2ft long -- Kent Police Swale said in a tweet: "We were called to reports of a crocodile in Queenborough this morning. Section one were snappy in getting there!"

However, the police went on to reveal that the crocodile found was actually fake but quipped they are always keen to bring "investigators" on board.

The tweet continued: "Fortunately, it turned out not to be real. We are always looking to recruit extra investigators!"
