April 03, 2022

Tonight is the Grammy’s 64th Annual Awards ceremony, and some of Jamaica’s biggest names will be vying for one of music’s top accolades; the Grammy for Best Reggae Album.

Spice, Etana, Gramps Morgan, Sean Paul, Jesse Royal, and Soja, are this year’s contenders for the prestigious award.

First-time nominees Spice and Jesse Royal came in with heavy hits from their respective albums ‘10,’ and ‘Royal,’ while familiar faces Etana and Gramps Morgan are looking to capture the top spot from their second nomination.

Category veteran and heavy hitter Sean Paul who is nine nominations in, with one victory thanks to his 2003 album Dutty Rock, showed no signs of slowing down on his ‘Live N Livin’ album and has tossed his hat in the ring for another round.

Last year’s new contender Koffe sent all hits above the belt to take home the Grammy, being the first solo female to do so for the category.

"This one is for all of us, this one is for Reggae, this one is for Jamaica," she said on accepting the award.

The eyes of the industry and audiences around the world are firmly fixed to see who takes home the title next.

The pregame ceremony which sees 76 of the 86 awards handed out begins at 3:30 pm and the official ceremony at 8:00 pm.
