Man steps on babymother’s head

An evidently peeved Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque revoked the bail of a 22-year-old who confessed to punching his child's mother in the eye three times and stepping in her head.

The judge was further perturbed after being told by the defendant Jauvani Phang that he had no reason for hitting the mother of his one-year-old son.

"So you just kicked somebody like that, the mother of your child, and you nuh have no reason to? You kick her and thump her in her eye three times, all step pon her and you nuh have no reason to do that? I need to give you a night of reflection," the obviously troubled judge expressed. Phang is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and unlawful wounding.

The complainant informed the court that she was involved in a relationship with Phang for more than two years and that an argument ensued on March 16 after she told him she would not be spending the night at his house. She further informed the court that after she made the police report of the incident, Phang allegedly threatened her.

Cole-Montaque then requested that a further statement be recorded from the complainant detailing the alleged threat that Phang issued.

"Murder matters start by these kinds of things you know and if at 22 years old, this young man can stand before me and admit to thumping her three times in her eye, step on her, lick her in her head and cannot put forward any reason at all like it is nothing at all, something is wrong. You're 22!" she stressed.

The complainant revealed that she wanted to be compensated $300,000 for her injuries and added that she has been experiencing problems with her eyes since the incident.

Phang agreed to make compensation but the judge still remanded him. He was made the subject of a fingerprint order and is to be brought back to court tomorrow.
