The nude body of a 73-year-old woman was discovered close to her home at Vanzie Land in Trelawny about 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

She has been identified as Cathlene Jump. It is suspected that she was mauled by dogs. Superintendent Winston Milton of the Trelawny police said that they got a report about 6:30 a.m. of a woman lying on the ground who appeared to be dead.

"When we went there, the body of the elderly woman was seen naked on the ground with blood all over her body. From observations it is suspected that she was mauled by dogs. The body was removed to the Falmouth Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Investigations are continuing," he said.

According to Milton the investigations will be guided by the Town and Country Act as it relates to dogs.

"Provisions have been made in the Town and Country Act ( Dogs Liability for Attacks Act 2020) for presumptions that hold dog owners accountable if an attack takes place in a public space whether or not there is proof of ownership," the Act states in part.
