Last weekend, National Commercial Bank Jamaica (NCB) partnered with several book and department stores to surprise more than 70 parents and guardians across the island with subsidies toward back-to-school bills.

Customers from parishes such as St Catherine, Manchester and St James, had as much as 100 per cent of their back-to-school bills subsidised during the initiative.

“We know things are rough, times are hard and so it is important for us to, support our customers and help to lighten the burden where we can,” explained Sheree Martin, Head of Retail Banking and Customer Experience at NCB.

Some book store owners noted their gratefulness for being a part of the initiative, which eased the pressure off some parents this back-to-school season.

NCB says it continues to support education, youth empowerment, and community development through the work of the N.C.B. Foundation, which has issued over two million towards educational grants across the island.

“At this time, we see supporting [some of our] parents and guardians with back-to-school purchases as the best fit for our children to re-engage in face-to-face learning,” Martin closed.
