Four caught stealing more than 100 gallons of paint
Four persons are now in police custody after they reportedly forged invoices and attempted to distribute over 100 gallons of paint that they fleeced from a company on Tuesday afternoon in Kingston.
Information reaching THE STAR is that the suspects were on a location offloading the items from the back of a truck on to two vehicles around 12:45 p.m. They were intercepted by a patrol unit from the Kingston Central police who were acting on intelligence, according to Superintendent Berrisford Williams, the division's commanding officer. The investigations are being carried out by detectives from the Half-Way Tree Criminal Investigation Branch, in the St Andrew Central Police Division. The division's commander, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth, applauded the swift action of the police.
"It was a very good act on the part of the police that they intercepted the deal because the suspects were doing a major distribution of the items at that time," said Nesbeth, who could not disclose if the robbers were first-time offenders.
"They haven't really come to our notice before, but we are doing our background work to determine same. I can, however, confirm that the suspects are Corporate Area persons with different addresses. We will seek to prefer charges on these persons following statements collected from the complainant, and then to progress the matter to the courts," he said.
