Christmas means family for ZJ Liquid

Popular disc jock and recording artiste ZJ Liquid looks forward to the festive season every year for the feeling of togetherness that it brings.

"Christmas to me is a time when family and friends come together and have a good time, exchanging gifts and eating food," he reasoned.

He said he looked forward to hanging out with his father and spending quality time during the festive season, when he was a child growing up in St James.

"My most memorable Christmas holiday is when me and my father, when me was like eight, nine, dem time deh, me and mi father used to go out Grand Market night. Mi never used to get gifts like that, but we go out Grand Market night and that was like the par fi the whole night. We walk all 'bout and see all type of toys, see Jonkonnu, fireworks, firecrackers, you know the whole excitement of walking in St James Street and parade, and getting your Christmas gift right there, because mi father would buy it right there. That was definitely my most memorable Christmas memory," he shared.

He said the celebration of Christmas as an adult has not changed much from those when he was a child.

"It is almost the same thing, because it was always a family thing to link up. Aunty, cousin, everybody link up and have big food settings, and you know mi kind of keep tha same energy deh, now that mi get big," he said.

ZJ Liquid said he plans to enjoy this Christmas to the fullest, as last year he was working.

"Definitely [will be] home with the kids dem, circle every yard to eat some Christmas dinner, exchange some gift and drink some liquor. I was travelling last year. Mi reach home still fi ketch Christmas dinner last year, but this year mi deh home, mi a go inna the kitchen an help cook," he said.
