Woman chopped to death in Bull Bay
Residents of Vershon Gully in Nine Miles, Bull Bay, St Andrew, have been left stunned by Friday night's killing of a woman, allegedly by her common-law partner.
The deceased, Sonia Campbell, was allegedly attacked by her machete-wielding partner during a dispute at their home in the community.
"Her knee cup chop out, and when yuh look pon the ground, a har teeth dem yuh see," one resident said.
Reports from the Elletson Road police are that about 8:30 p.m., Campbell and her common-law partner had a dispute during which a machete was brought into play and used to chop her several times all over her body. Another woman intervened and was also chopped and injured.
The police assisted both women to the hospital, where Campbell was pronounced dead upon arrival and the other woman was admitted for treatment.
Superintendent Tommilee Chambers, head of the Kingston East police, said the suspect was taken into custody on the night of the incident.
Residents are still shell-shocked by the incident, which they have described as macabre and shied away from speaking with the news team.
"She nuh live here a year good yet, anuh one year since she deh here," one resident shared with THE S TAR. "Me inna me bed and a when daylight somebody a tell me say the man chop up the girl over deh. Me nuh hear nothing," the resident added.
