A St Catherine woman found herself in hot water on Wednesday, after ignoring a notice to remedy a breach of the Public Health Nuisance Regulations at her premises.

Theresa Douglas, 40, was arrested and charged for disconnecting the pipe to an absorption pit in her yard, following an argument with a relative.

This led to occupants being exposed to waste material, when it began leaking from the pit and into the yard in Sligoville, St Catherine.

The St Catherine Health Department was contacted, and an investigation launched after which Douglas was served with a notice to reconnect the system and abate the problem.

She ignored the notices served and as such was summoned to answer the charge in court on Wednesday, where she pleaded guilty to the offence.

She was ordered to be remanded until February 13, 2023, when she will learn her fate.
