Bridgeport High gets 1,000-gallon tanks

Soft drink brand Bigga has donated two 1,000-gallon water storage tanks to Bridgeport High School to help combat frequent water lock-offs at the institution.

Bigga brand manager Keteisha McHugh said the donation to the St Catherine-based school is part of its 'sanitation in schools' initiative launched earlier this year. She said that the school requested the tanks to assist in supplying water to the male students' bathroom and to replace a defective water storage tank.

"This initiative demonstrates Bigga's dedication to helping communities in need. We are committed to supporting vulnerable Jamaicans with access to continuous running water and encourage practising good hygiene," McHugh said.

Malcolm Nelson, vice-principal at Bridgeport, said that the tanks will help to combat frequent water lock-offs that the school has been experiencing in recent times.

"We have been using all the stored water to operate the institution. The tanks will, therefore, assist in the smooth operations of our school plant when we have water lock-offs in and around the school environment," Nelson said.

Bridgeport High School was established in 1978 and currently operates on a shift system with an enrolment of over 2,000 students.
