On the heels of a successful staging of The Lawn in Kingston last December, the Yungrolaz Entertainment team is gearing up to make its debut in St Ann as part of the VaCae Weekend line-up of events. \

One of the event directors and marketing consultant, Markous 'MC Marko' Moore, said that being part of a major weekend party series has been an objective of the team and there were discussions around conceptualising one of their own in the past.

"After analysing the market and Jamaica's event calendar, we recognised that there were several limitations. We already have several groups hosting party series during high season and just about three or four main tourist areas. There needs to be greater expansion of these locations," MC Marko told THE WEEKEND STAR. "Not saying it's impossible, but we would like for our brand to become more established both on the local and international scene. One of our main expectations is to see our brand become a household name."

Dubbed 'Code Yellow' since its inception five years ago, The Lawn has attracted the attention of several fashionistas, social media influencers and local celebrities. The event organisers have also staged several style challenges specifically on Mother's Day, on which The Lawn was first staged.

As Yungrolaz Entertainment prepares to join VaCae Weekend which features six other events including Sandz Caribbean Music Festival, Strictly 2K and Pan Di Plaza, from April 7 to 10, the team is also gearing up for The Lawn's fifth anniversary staging on May 14.

"We believe in unity ... and Supreme Team, the promoters of Sandz and Pan Di Plaza, are to be lauded as an organised entity that knows exactly how to deliver to their patrons. Why not collaborate with another team that does well and is about spreading local culture? I speak on behalf of all the Yungrolaz, that we are honoured to be part of positive growth for Jamaica's local entertainment industry," MC Marko said.

"So far, we've seen how a rare theme, unlike the usual colours, has worked. The idea of sunshine, representing an island of golden opportunities, has come to life and we take that positive energy into the Easter holiday weekend, and right into our Mother's Day staging by God's will. We feel blessed to have had two staging prior to COVID-19 and two post-pandemic, and only look ahead," he added.

MC Marko also said that having rapper and business mogul Rick Ross sign on to VaCae Weekend was an added plus.

"We wouldn't mind if Rick Ross could be at every single party from start to finish, not necessarily to perform but to see what our island and its creatives have to offer. The Lawn will feature a guest artiste and is a celebrity playground and we can't wait to welcome old supporters and new patrons to be part of this experience with us," MC Marko.
