Kingston men charged following shootout

The police have arrested and charged two men after they were engaged in a shootout that led to them both being injured.

They have been identified as 28-year-old Romaine Bennett of a Bryce Hill Road address in Kingston 7, and 25-year-old Randy Cole, a tattoo artist from the Waterloo district in Ewarton, St Catherine.

Reports from the Half Way Tree Police are that about 9:00 p.m. on February 7, both men were involved in a gunfight and allegedly shot and injured each other.

The police were summoned and the injured parties transported to hospital where they were admitted.

During a search of the area, one (1) Taurus 9mm pistol, a magazine containing one (1) 9mm cartridge, one Pietro Beretta 9mm pistol, and a magazine loaded with thirteen 9mm cartridges were found.

They were both charged following interviews.

Bennett has been charged with shooting with intent, wounding with intent, and unauthorised possession of prohibited weapon.

While Cole was previously charged with wounding with intent, unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition stemming from the same incident.

They are awaiting arrangements for court.
