Fairy Hill residents protest prolonged dust, water troubles
Residents in Fairy Hill, Portland took to the streets this morning in protest over a prolonged dust nuisance, absence of pipe water, and bad road conditions.
The residents mounted a road block from as early as 5:00 a.m. on Monday, using old refrigerators, downed trees, metallic drums, and boulders to form the blockade.
Several students from Titchfield High, Port Antonio High, and Happy Grove were forced to return home, while persons attached to the parish’s work force are also held up in the blockade.
Vehicular traffic has been brought to a halt.
The police began the process of clearing the blockade mounted along different sections of the roadway.
More details soon.
