Police seize illegal firearm, ammo in Westmoreland

An illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition in were seized during a joint police/military operation in Whithorn, Westmoreland on Monday morning.

The police have confirmed that three persons, including a teenage girl, were arrested following the discovery. 

The Westmoreland police say between 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m., the team was conducting operations in the Content district in Whithorn, when they searched a premises and discovered a Smith and Wesson pistol with eighteen cartridges.

The police say the identities of the three people in custody are being withheld pending further investigations.
