The St James Parish Court has issued and stayed a warrant for Anthony Pottinger, who was stabbed multiple times during a fight with another man in December 2022, after he failed to turn up in court on Thursday.

Presiding Parish Judge Sasha-Marie Ashley made the order for the warrant for Pottinger, who is involved in a cross-case with Aldaine Reynolds. The warrant's execution has been put on hold until May 16, when both men are expected to be in court.

Pottinger, of a Rose Heights address, is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, while Reynolds is charged with unlawful wounding.

The court was expected to receive an update from the men on Thursday in relation to mediation sessions which they were ordered to attend during their previous court appearance on March 22. However, Pottinger failed to attend when the matter was called up, and no explanation was given for his absence.

As a result, Judge Ashley issued the warrant for Pottinger, to be executed if he does not attend court when the matter is mentioned again on May 16. Reynolds' bail was extended.

The allegations against Reynolds are that on December 7, 2022, in the Rose Heights community, Reynolds and Pottinger got into an argument about their respective properties which swiftly turned physical. During the fight, Reynolds reportedly stabbed Pottinger in the right shoulder and right ear, and in his head.

In the case against Pottinger, it is alleged that two days later, on December 9, he and Reynolds' mother got into an argument about an uncovered manhole, following which Pottinger flung a stone at her and broke her finger.
