Health department probing odour at Dovecot
Following several complaints from residents, the St Catherine Health Department has launched a probe into an odour coming from the Dovecot cemetery in the parish.
Councillor for the Frazer's Content division in St Catherine, Alphanso Johnson, said that the concerns are known and being dealt with.
"Yes there are some grave concerns, we have in fact contacted the management of Dovecot and there is to be a walk-through to see how best to deal with the residents concerns," he said.
For years residents of the Green Acres community have expressed concerns about roaches, now their displeasure is about a violent odour emanating from the burial site.
A public health inspector from St Catherine Health Department was made aware of these issues.
"We will be sending an officer to investigate the report, as there can be serious implication so it must be check thoroughly," said Denece Douglas, Deputy Chief Public Health Inspector for the parish.
