The parishes of Clarendon and St Catherine are currently benefiting from two multimillion-dollar road rehabilitation projects being undertaken by the National Works Agency (NWA).

The works form part of efforts by the Government to repair damaged roadways across the island.

Stephen Shaw, manager of communication and customer services at the NWA, said just over $41 million is being spent on the Danks to Crofts Hill roadway in Clarendon. The project, which commenced recently, will see sections of the 14-kilometre stretch benefiting from drainage improvement works ansurface improvements.

Shaw said that the duration of the project is two months, and outlined that the workmen will construct kerbs and channel. Some sections of the corridor will also be patched.

In the case of St Catherine, Shaw said that $39 million is being spent to improve road condition in three sections of the parish. The targeted corridors are Hudson Farm to Cudjoe Hill in the Worthy Park area, Main Street in Old Harbour Bay, and Bonnet Road in the Guys Hill community.

Shaw said that the repairs are being done under separate contracts and will see an overhaul of the driving surface of the selected roadways. He said a total of 11,050 square metres of the corridors will be sheet-patched, while other sections will be targeted for pothole patching.

The St Catherine projects, which commenced in April, are more than 90 per cent completed.
