Single mom hits $49 million Lotto jackpot
Almost a month after hitting the $49 million Lotto jackpot, A. Baker has come forward to claim her winnings, and the single mother has admitted that she did not know she was a millionaire.
She only realised she was the winner when she went to purchase another Lotto ticket with the same lucky numbers of 01, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29.
"I've been buying these same numbers for years. I bought my ticket as usual, but missed the live draw and didn't check the results. So I didn't realise I won. I was clueless! I found out that I won when I went back to the same store to buy the same numbers. They are the ones who told me that the numbers had hit a few weeks before. I could hardly contain my emotions. I burst into tears of joy when I realised that I won," recounted Baker.
While still trying to come to terms with her good fortune, Baker is already sure that she will be giving back to her church and her community so others can benefit from her winnings. She will also be putting funds aside for her children's education.
"I've always said if I win the Lotto, I will make sure to give back. So now that I've won, I'll definitely be keeping my word," she said.
Stefan Miller, senior vice-president, product management and business development at Supreme Ventures Limited, was pleased to create another Lotto millionaire, with this presentation being the third since the start of the year.
"At Supreme Ventures, we are in the business of transforming lives and so we're very excited to make another Lotto millionaire. This win is extra special, as it is one of two Lotto jackpot wins for the month of May. Having our players hit the jackpot twice in one month reinforces the fact that we are the winningest gaming provider in the country," he said.
So far this year, one Lotto winner walked away with $63 million in February and another lucky player bagged the $45 million jackpot in March. The $35 million jackpot which was hit in St Andrew on May 31, with the winning numbers 03, 04, 13, 20, 25, 34, has not yet been claimed.
