Mobay security guards held with illegal firearm, ammunition
The police in St James have taken two security guards into custody after they were caught with an illegal firearm and ammunition during a spot check on Monday.
Their names are being withheld pending further investigation, but they are a 24-year-old male and a 22-year-old female, both from Barrett Town addresses
According to police reports, lawmen carried out vehicle spot checks in the downtown area of Montego Bay sometime after 1 p.m., when they signalled the driver of a white Toyota Probox motor car to stop.
The driver complied, and following a search of the vehicle, a Taurus pistol fitted with a magazine containing one .380 round was found.
Investigations are under way.
