Labourer charged following botched robbery
Twenty-three-year-old Oshane White, a labourer of Fourth Avenue, Vineyard Town, Kingston 3, has been arrested and charged following an incident on Slipe Road, Kingston 5, on June 14.
Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that about 5:11 p.m., White and another man on a motorcycle drove up to a gas station, where White pointed a firearm at a worker and demanded money. She pulled away from both men and alerted the security guard, who responded by using his firearm. Both men drove off in a bid to escape; however, White, along with his firearm fell, leaving him to escape on foot.
The police were summoned and one Smith and Wesson Springfield firearm with one magazine containing 12 cartridges was recovered. White was subsequently arrested. He was charged on Wednesday with assault with intent to rob, unauthorised possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunitions, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
His court date is being arranged.
