Pastor accused of fraud

July 10, 2023

A pastor who was arrested last October during a sting operation, allegedly for collecting money to verify passport applications, has found himself before the courts again.

Antonio Williams is charged for making a false declaration and obtaining money by means of false pretence after collecting $1,000 from a woman within the Corporate Area to certify her passport application. The date of this offence is not known.

"Your Honour, I have been in custody for the last 20 days and I don't think I can last another 20. My life is in ruins and I am asking for bail, please," Williams submitted to the court.

However, his request was not entertained by Parish Judge Leighton Morris, who indicated that the accused man would have to retain the services of an attorney first.

The matter was adjourned until July 20 for Williams to settle his legal representation.
