Man charged after confrontation with off-duty cop
Twenty-two-year-old Malik Peart, a painter of Havendale Drive, Kingston 19, has been arrested and charged with shooting with intent, following a confrontation with an off-duty police officer along Beatrice Crescent and Rosalee Avenue, Kingston 11, on July 4.
Reports from the Hunts Bay police are that about 7:30 p.m., the off-duty officer heard explosions and saw Peart and three other men with handguns coming from a premises. The men challenged the officer and escaped in the area. Peart later turned up at the hospital with gunshot wounds.
He was positively identified by the officer and he was subsequently placed under police guard and charged. He was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition. His court date is being finalised.
