Illegal firearm, ammunition seized in West Kingston

The police are reporting that an illegal firearm, and over a dozen rounds of ammunition, were seized by members of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) during an operation in a section of West Kingston. 

According to the Denham Town Police, the military members were in the vicinity of McKenzie Drive in Kingston 14 on Wednesday, when they heard explosions sometime after 3:00 p.m.

When they arrived at the area the sound came from, they spotted a man acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

He was accosted and searched - a Glock pistol fitted with a magazine containing fourteen cartridges and an additional magazine with six cartridges were found in a knapsack he was carrying.

The man was arrested and taken into custody pending further investigations.
