St Catherine man fined $600k for lost firearm

A St Catherine man who reportedly lost his licensed firearm after attending a funeral, has been fined $600,000 or nine months imprisonment for his negligence. 

The decision was passed down by senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne after the accused, 40-year-old Ian Hutchinson, pleaded guilty to the allegations in court on Friday. 

It is reported that on November 28, 2022, the accused placed his Glock Pistol inside of the vehicle while he attended a funeral in Spanish Town. 

Upon reaching  home, he realised that the gun was missing.

Hutchinson was later arrested and charged with  negligence during police investigations.
