Man chopped to death in St Mary; cops hunt suspect
The St Mary police have launched a man-hunt for a suspect in the chopping death of a resident in Windsor Castle, near Carron Hall in the parish, on Thursday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Javaughn Patterson. While on the run is 48-year-old farmer Donovan Grant.
According to the police, the now deceased and the suspect had a long standing dispute which escalated at about 5:45am Thursday.
It is reported that during a heated argument, the suspect used a machete to inflict chop wounds to the head, neck, hands, and feet of the now deceased - killing him on the spot.
The police were alerted by residents.
Upon their arrival, Patterson's body was seen lying face down in a pool of blood- clad in a dark blue T-shirt, blue underpants, and barefooted. The suspect allegedly fled the scene shortly after.
The STAR understands that the killing might have been fuelled by an incident involving a house belonging to the suspect, which was gutted by fire in early 2023.
The police said that the suspect is of the view that at the time of the incident, the deceased played a part in the destruction of his house.
