The Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday heard that two women got into fist fight while boarding a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus.

Carltonette Smith and Kadian Hunter both pleaded guilty to the brawl which occurred in downtown Kingston as they were boarding a bus heading to Portmore, St Catherine. Hunter explained to Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque that she was on the first steps of the bus, when she felt a slap across her face.

"Me turn round and me feel another lick to my face. Then me get drape up and slap again. Your Honour, I don't know what happen but I just take out my work pen and just stab the person," Hunter explained, after pleading guilty to unlawful wounding. Smith admitted to assault occasioning bodily harm, when she slapped Hunter in the face.

"Your Honour, I was boarding the bus with my sister and she push my sister so I just start slapping her. When she realise that she couldn't beat me, she take out the pen," Smith said.

"Taking a Portmore bus is very hectic, Your Honour," Hunter intervened.

The women agreed to the judge's suggestion to attend mediation to resolve the issue. They are to return to court on December 7.
