Murder accused shot dead after leaving court

December 05, 2023

Wesley Reid, the 28-year-old St James resident charged in connection with a triple murder in Roehampton, in the parish, was shot and killed on his way from court earlier today.

It is reported that his mother was also shot in the incident.

In August, Reid was charged with three counts of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a firearm to commit a felony.

His charges stem from the shooting deaths of 38-year-old Conroy Lawrence, 38-year-old Shevan Gordon, and 56-year-old Carlesley Morris, all from Roehampton.

They were shot sometime after 9:00 p.m. on June 2, and rushed to hospital where they were pronounced dead. Reid was subsequently arrested following investigations.

He was out on $1 million bail shortly after.

Today, Reid was before the St James Parish Court for a committal hearing to decide if there was sufficient evidence to transfer his case to the circuit court.

He was shot along Harbour Street after leaving the court. He ran off and died shortly after in the vicinity.
