Schoolgirl and man arrested after gun seizure in St Elizabeth

A high school girl and a man are now in police custody following the discovery of a gun in a toilet tank in a house in St Elizabeth.

The police say, acting on intelligence, they carried out an operation in Brinkley district, where a premises was searched.

During the search, the revolver with one live round was reportedly found hidden inside a toilet tank.

Head of the St Elizabeth Police Division, Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, is commending the search team for their diligence and detail during the operation.

He says the police will continue operations and he is encouraging residents to share any information they have on illegal guns or wanted persons to 119, 311 or the nearest police station.
