The St Elizabeth police have recovered another illegal firearm, bringing to three the number of guns seized in 48 hours.

Head of the division, Acting Superintendent of Police Coleridge Minto, says about noon on Sunday a team of officers conducted an operation in the Grosmond community where a fatal shooting took place on Friday.

During the operation, a Honda Fit motor car, which was parked in the area, was searched and a Glock pistol with 17 rounds of ammunition was recovered.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Minto says efforts have been intensified in the search for two men who fired at the police on Friday.

He says the men are armed and dangerous and he is appealing to members of the public not to harbour them.

He is also urging to the men to surrender to the police, "but if not they can rest assured all efforts will be made to bring them in custody."
