Members of the Jamaican diaspora on Friday held a demonstration and counter-protest on the street in front of the Jamaican Consulate in Manhattan, New York.

One demonstration was organised by the Jamaica Diaspora Crime Intervention and Prevention Task Force led by Dr Rupert Francis and Wilfred Rattigan.

The counter-protest was being led by Dr Clovis Nelson.

The main demonstration attracted about 80 people, while the counter-demonstration drew 12 persons.

Speakers at the main demonstration called for accountability from the Jamaican government, while those opposing them labelled the main demonstration as political.
