Man dies at HWT lockup

The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the death of a man while in police custody yesterday.

The Half-Way Tree police report that about 8:20 p.m., 59-year-old David Satchel, a labourer of Padmore district, St Andrew, was found unresponsive in his cell.

Satchel was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Satchel was reportedly in custody on a sexual assault charge and was remanded when he appeared in court on September 9.
