Man arrested for allegedly stealing rum and cigarettes
A Manchester man has been arrested for allegedly stealing rum and cigarettes from a business along Hotel street, Mandeville, between October 6 and 7.
Twenty-two-year-old Derrick Thomas, otherwise called ‘Tip’ or ‘Blacks’, of Albion district is charged with shop breaking and larceny.
The police say the owner of the business discovered that a window was removed. Upon searching he found that two quarts of Wray and Nephew white rum, five packs of assorted cigarettes and $6,000 were stolen.
On Wednesday, the police launched an investigation leading to the arrest of Thomas who reportedly confessed to the crime.
He was subsequently charged and is scheduled to appear before the Manchester Parish Court on October 16
