Warmington warns gov't agencies to stop excluding custos from functions
St Catherine South Western Member of Parliament, Everald Warmington, has accused government agencies of excluding Custos of St Catherine, Icylin Golding, from functions in his constituency.
Warmington was speaking at this morning’s groundbreaking for the Old Harbour Comprehensive Health Centre.
While commending planners for including Golding at the ceremony, Warmington said that this only happened after his intervention.
"I'm tired of seeing functions planned in St Catherine South West[ern] without the inclusion of the custos while the mayor is included," he remarked.
"The mayor is the Mayor of Spanish Town, and the custos is the custos for the parish of St Catherine and also the first citizen of the parish."
"Make it be the last time a function is held in this constituency that bypasses the custos. If they do, they will have to bypass me also."
The state-of-the-art 2,000 square feet health centre will serve 10,000 people monthly
Construction is being funded by the Jamaican government and international partners at a total cost of US$6 million.
