Construction worker accused of rape

Detectives attached to the Westmoreland Police Division have charged a construction worker with two counts of rape, following an incident in Water Wheel, Cave district on January 13.

Reports from the Savanna-la-Mar police are that at 4:30 p.m., the complainant was home by herself when the accused, who is known to her, entered her house. The man held her down and had sexual intercourse with her against her will, before leaving the house.

The complainant told a relative about the incident, who later reported it to the police. An intelligence-driven operation led to the apprehension of the man on Monday, after which he was positively identified. He was subsequently charged following a caution statement. His court date is being finalised.
