66-y-o among women accused of stealing $800,000
An elderly woman is one of three persons accused of breaking into another woman's house and stealing $800,000 from her chest of drawers in Plantation Heights, St Catherine.
The accused are 66-year-old Yvette Johnstone, 48-year-old Zodia Ramdatt, and 35-year-old Shari Johnstone, all of an Independence City, St Catherine address.
The Duhaney Park police are charging the women with house-breaking, larceny, conspiracy.
According to reports about 11:00 a.m., a woman securely locked her bedroom and left her helper to oversee the premises while she was away.
The accused women went to the premises and demanded the keys to the woman's bedroom.
When their demands were unmet, they allegedly used a wrench to pry the door from its hinges, entered the room, and stole the money from the woman's chest of drawers.
They then made their escape in a waiting motor car.
A report was made to the police and the women were arrested and later charged.
Their court dates are being finalised.
