Man shot dead during alleged confrontation with police in Grants Pen

The Independent Commission of Investigations have launched a probe into death of a man who was shot during an alleged confrontation with police in Grants Pen, St Andrew this morning.

Dead is Gerald Gallimore otherwise called 'Birdie'.

Alligations are that about 12:03 a.m., cops went on an operation along Grants Pen Drive when Gallimore allegedly challenged the team.

The police took evasive action during which Gallimore was shot and injured.

A Glock 27 Gen 40 pistol affixed with a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition was seized.

He was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital where he succumbed.
