Fingerprint ID system nabs alleged housebreaker
A St Andrew man has been charged with housebreaking and larceny after his fingerprints were found at a home that was broken into.
Charged is 29-year-old Kerron Mason of White Hall Avenue. Reports from the Constant Spring police are that the occupants of a house on Mayfair Avenue, Kingston 19, retired to bed about 12:35 a.m. on December 16. After sunrise, they discovered that the house had been broken into. Further checks revealed that several items, including cellular phones and handbags, were missing. Lawmen initiated an investigation into the matter after a report was made to them. Fingerprints which were lifted from the scene were processed. The Automated Fingerprint Identification System subsequently revealed that the fingerprints matched those of Mason, who is an alleged serial housebreaker.
He was apprehended in another parish on January 10, and taken into custody, where he was charged on Sunday following an interview in the presence of his attorney. A court date is being arranged for him.
