Man accused of abduction and rape remanded until July 11

A St Catherine man charged with the abduction and rape of a 21-year-old woman was remanded when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Thursday.

The court ordered that he remain in custody until July 11, pending verification of an alternative address.

According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:50 a.m. on June 6 in Highgate, St Mary. The complainant was reportedly standing along the roadway when the accused exited a motor vehicle.

The man reportedly forced her inside, and transported her to Banbury District in Linstead, St Catherine. He then allegedly sexually assaulted her.

A report was made to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), and the accused was later arrested and charged.

Investigations are ongoing.
