Mason facing firearm charges
Detectives assigned to the Manchester Police Division charged 31-year-old Rochane Smith, otherwise called ' Stephen', a mason of Silver Grove district in the parish, with several offences following an incident on Huntley main road on July 8.
He is charged with wounding with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony and assault at common law. Reports indicate that at 2 a.m., a man was walking along the main road when Smith pointed a firearm at him and fired several shots, hitting the man in the head and upper body. An investigation was subsequently launched. Reid was sought, found by the lawmen and later arrested. He was positively identified in an identification parade and the charges laid. His court date is being finalised.
