Security guard arrested for ratchet knife

A security guard, who was spotted with a knife by police, has been charged with being armed with an offensive weapon following.

The St Catherine South police have charged 21-year-old Christopher Mighty of Hatfield Avenue, Gregory Park, in relation to the incident which occurred on Queens Avenue, Gregory Park, on August 23. Reports from the lawmen are that at 2:15 p.m., Mighty was seen among a group of men by a team of police on patrol in the community. The police observed a brown-handled ratchet knife in Mighty's shorts pocket, and approached him. He was accosted and searched, and the knife was removed from his possession. Mighty failed to give the police a reasonable explanation for having the knife in a public space, and was subsequently charged.

He is awaiting a court date.
