Electrician accused of fraudulent conversion
Detectives assigned to the Clarendon Criminal Investigation Branch have charged an electrician with obtaining money by false pretence and fraudulent conversion following an incident that occurred between September 28, 2024 and August 2025.
Charged is 24-year-old Jarvis Johnson of Midway Avenue, May Pen, Clarendon. Reports are that Johnson, who was in a relationship with the complainant, presented a business idea to her and requested a loan to purchase trucks for the venture. She agreed and transferred a total of US$43,162 (approximately J$6.8 million) and J$21,184,108 to Johnson over the course of a few months. The complainant later became suspicious and requested to see proof that the trucks were purchased, which Johnson could not provide. She later made a report to the police and Johnson was arrested during a targeted operation. He was charged last Saturday.
Johnson is set to appear before the May Pen Parish Court on September 8.
